About me: Currently a second year Newcastle University student studying Surveying and Mapping Science. I have completed bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards, participating in 2, 3 and 5 day expeditions. I currently enjoy playing rugby for Gosfrorth RFC. I am currently Social Secretary for the course society and have been appointed Treasurer for next year.




Josh Dack

Hometown: Teesside


About Me Also a stage 2 Surveying and Mapping science student at Newcastle University. I have undertaken bronze level Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the North York Moors. I have travelled extensively around Europe and have experience of long haul travel as well. The majority of this travel was done by plane with family or friends, helping to develop independence. I am also an active member of the University Triathlon Club and represent the University at BUCS events. My other hobbies include playing guitar and drums. 





Larissa Ord
Age:20
Hometown: Leeds

About me: a second year studying Surveying and Mapping Science within the school of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at the University of Newcastle.  I am a member of Newcastle University’s Swimming and Water polo’s first teams, competing in BUCS (British University and College Sports) for the second year running, alongside swimming for the City of Leeds Swimming Team back home. I hold a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) and am a qualified PADI Open Water Diver. In terms of my subject area my previous surveying experience consists of a week surveying in the Lake District as part of a small team.  In terms of travel experience, I have explored areas of Europe with both family and friends.


Lauren Tawn
Age:19
Hometown: Essex


About me: a stage 2, studying Surveying and Mapping Science Bsc.  I hold two first aid qualifications including First Aid for Sport Certificate and the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. Working as a lifeguard for 3 years has meant I have developed good time management and organisational skills. In terms of previous travel, for a month during the summer of 2012 I went travelling with three friends, visiting 9 countries in Europe, so I experienced different cultures and we had to manage our time and money.
